Ramadan Mubarak (Tips for a blessed Ramadan)

Did you feel the barakah at maghrib last night?

If you're like me always wondering if you made the most out of Ramadan heres my no.1 goal for the next 30 days

To pray the 12 sunnahs of salah that guarantee me Jannah

They are

🤲🏽 sunnahs before Fajr

🤲🏽 sunnahs before Dhuhr & 2 sunnahs after

🤲🏽 sunnahs after Maghrib

🤲🏽 sunnahs after Esha

The salahs I find challenging are Dhuhr & Esha because my kids come back from school & by 9pm I'm ready to hit the bed

But for the last 30 days I've implemented a night time skin care routine that makes it easier for me to pray

For Dhuhr, I pray as soon as I hear the Athan. If my coaching calls are during salah, I pray as soon as I get off the call

Now here's the trick to keep you consistent with your goals for the next 30 days

1. Keep it small. I mean as small as you can make it. For me praying 12 sunnahs feels small & doable. I love praying. It's my fave act of worship & comes to me so easily compared to other acts of worship

The Prophet SAW said the action we do consistently is more beloved to Allah even if it's small. Remember Ramadan is a marathon not a sprint

2. Focus on the feeling that goal will give you. Imagine it's the end of Ramadan & you stuck to your goal. How would you feel?

Happy? Fulfilled? Satisfied? Love? Peace?

Identify the emotion. That emotion is going to motivate you to keep going even when you don't want to

.

3. Have a routine in place that makes it easy for you to complete that goal

For example, I created a night time skin care routine that includes shower, flossing, dry brushing, curling my hair & castor oil packs & having special prayer outfits hanging, to help me pray Esha

The first few days were hard but then I got used to it.

I would think about waking up with bad breath (my worst nightmare I hate morning breath) or smelling nasty as soon as I woke up to motivate me to stick to my routine. I'd imagine my kids saying “ew mummy you stink” to keep me from slacking.

And then I'd focus on the feeling of accomplishment. I'd visualize myself getting into bed feeling clean, smelling fresh & completing my day with praying Esha. That feeling was so invigorating it helped me stay on track with all my other prayers & made Esha so easy

The reason this works is because your mind loves routine & identifies behaviors to stick to these routines

We need to create a step BEFORE the goal we're trying to achieve, to help our brains associate that act with that goal

For example my skin care routine. My mind associated my night time routine with Esha

Creating a routine & focusing on the feeling will help you stick to your Ramadan goal & make you feel like you made the most out for this sacred month

I hope these tips helped

May Allah make the next 29 or 30 days the best days of your life. Ameen

May Allah accept every act of worship you do even if it's just having the intention to do good ameen

May Allah allow you to reap the rewards of your efforts this Ramadan in this life & Jannah ameen

May this Ramadan be the standard for every single Ramadan, filled with joy, peace, love, blessings, abundance & everything you pray for ameen

I love you!

Thank you for being here ❤️
